How to use Energy Leadership in Coaching??

Discovery : Any coaching session with a client starts with identifying what coachee’ s current state is and it is no different in this case. If you are planning to use Energy Leadership model for your coachee, it is important to identify what his/her current energy state is. This could be done through the assessment using the 7 levels of leadership model, what the client associates his/her core feeling with.

Define: Once discovery is complete and client is made aware of his/her current state, the next step is to define his/her target state and the outcomes he/she expects to achieve by reaching the target state. Explore with the client on how would he/she respond to different situations, different people when he/she moves to the target energy state?

Partner: Work with the client to explore the various energy levels he/she needs to transcend and his/her responses at different energy levels. Partner with him/her so he/she reflects on his/her behaviours and identifies the energy levels he/she is at each of the sessions as you go through and continuously validate if the energy level he/she is targeting helps him/her get to his/her goals or if any course correction is needed.

Practice: Ensure Coachee is practicing the responses/behaviours based on the energy level he is looking to transcend to and is exhibiting progress towards his/her intermediate goals aligned to long term goals. Validate his commitment to practice moving up the energy levels and accomplishing the goals / outcomes defined by the coachee when he moves to those levels.
